Join us to hear from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) to discuss the Illinois Anti-Predatory Lending Database (APLD). The APLD was created to protect consumers from predatory mortgage loans by mandating that borrowers attend housing counseling before closing on mortgage loans that contain specific “predatory” terms. As of January 1, 2025, the law permits borrowers to receive housing counseling from national HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, in addition to Illinois-based HUD-approved housing counseling agencies. This training will begin with a brief discussion on how to research information on entities licensed by IDFPR and how to file complaints against licensed entities. It will include an overview of the database, how to apply for an APLD account, the APLD’s housing counseling requirements, and how to enter data into the database.
