Join us to hear from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), and the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC), for a presentation about Shared Appreciation Mortgages (SAMs), a financial product that allows homeowners to access cash in exchange for a future interest in their home’s value. Illinois is the first state in the Midwest to regulate these products, and the new regulations require homeowners to receive HUD-certified counseling before entering into these agreements. Join us to learn how counselors can support homeowners considering SAMs.
